Canada’s early learning and child care system: Building a foundation for sustainable population growth
In August 2021, Medow Consulting developed this key insight report on Canada’s early learning and child care system for Century Initiative. Highlights of this paper include that:
Access to child care can improve the well-being of children and families, create jobs, impact labour force participation and the economy, and support newcomer attraction and retention.
Canada needs an accessible, affordable, high quality system of early learning and child care to enable sustainable population growth, and long term economic prosperity.
For the Canada-wide system to be successful, a consensus on the importance of strengthening the child care system must be maintained across parties, regions, constituencies, and governments.
