Jon Medow

President

Jon founded Medow Consulting in 2017 as a purpose-driven consulting practice. He brings a multi-dimensional perspective to the practice based on sixteen years of public policy analysis, engagement, and strategy experience on the political and bureaucratic sides of government, in the think tank and non-profit sectors, and in public policy consulting.  Jon has a record of delivering strategic advice and driving collaborative initiatives that shift debate and produce results. He is a rigorous researcher and natural facilitator, passionate about convening partners to create change. Jon has managed numerous large-scale projects working with horizontal, multi-disciplinary teams. He has a knack for foreseeing risk and keeping the gears of complex projects moving.

 Jon launched Medow Consulting with a plan to advance high impact initiatives with partners in the public policy and program delivery communities. Medow Consulting’s mission is to support organizations of all forms to shape public policy and program delivery through solutions-focused analysis, engagement, and strategy. It pursues this mission with a clear vision: to advance solutions that improve the lives of individuals, our communities, and societies. The Medow Consulting team has grown into a full-fledged policy start-up of five team members, including Jon, and a network of expert collaborators.

 

As President of Medow Consulting, Jon has led analysis, engagement, and strategy initiatives for clients including UA Canada, the Indigenous Advanced Education and Skills Council, Century Initiative, United Way of Greater Toronto, Prince’s Trust Canada, the City of Toronto, the Assembly of First Nations, and the OECD, among others. In 2019, Jon collaborated with the Leadership Lab at TMU, Sandbox Inc., and Côté & Co. Strategies to develop divestudentaid.com, an interactive public affairs case study designed to push the boundaries of digital learning for public policy students and practitioners. 

Prior to launching Medow Consulting, Jon held civil service and political roles with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities in the Minister's Office, Deputy Minister's Office, and Indigenous Education Branch. Before joining government, he held policy, research, and government relations roles with Higher Education Strategy Associates, the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association, and the Mowat Centre, where he served as Project Lead for the Mowat Centre Employment Insurance Task Force in 2011.

 Jon holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a minor in Spanish, both from the University of Toronto. Born and raised in Metro Detroit, Jon first came to Canada as an international student. He became a Canadian Citizen in 2014.
